Day 1 01:18
With slight hesitation And endless frustration He tries to take flight Tonight Like a vampire in broad daylight He dies a little inside Sharpens his teeth It’s him against the world
2.
Day 2 02:37
I’ve been thinking about The people who live without Children crying out to the world As we hide behind a white picket fence Rescue me He says from a TV screen His screams play on repeat in my mind Only four years old He lost the place he called home Growing up too fast But that’s the way it had to be Nothing is going their way They look for a home every day Left in the water to sink or swim The tragic ending unfolds Rescue me They say from a TV screen Their screams play on repeat in my mind Only four years old They lost the place they called home Growing up so fast But that’s the way it had to be
3.
Day 3 02:07
Dancing around the kitchen Dancing around the questions The questions that plague my mind All the time We dance around like the movies As the planets keep on moving Not asking what lies ahead It’s starting to hurt my head The room is spinning Like a carousel I’m riding the white horse And under the witch’s magic spell
4.
Day 4 02:30
I lie here awoken by the sound Of a thunderstorm It welcomes me home With open arms Another New York night Hopped off a flight With bloodshot eyes This is not goodbye I’ll see you down the line These little moments in time Years from now what will remain in our minds It’s just another starry night Let’s paint it like Van Gogh I feel like a stranger I’ve seen stranger I’ve seen stranger Stranger things Sun-kissed memories Sudden goodbyes Embrace me One last time Before I fly home tonight

Day 5 01:50
6.
Day 6 02:36
7.
Day 7 01:49
Wide awake at four AM In bed she lies and rests her head Tired but her mind’s got other plans This is how the story goes A marathon of HBO Acts as the antidote for worried minds

about

I've been playing the guitar and singing since I was nine, and even though music is the only thing I've ever really wanted to do, I used to be nervous about sharing songs with people. Looking through my phone recently, I saw that I had more than 300 song ideas/finished songs in my voice memos over the past four years.

Drawing inspiration from some of my favorite creative people, I wanted to challenge myself to write a song every day for a week. Most of these songs are pretty lo-fi especially since I'm recording them in my basement with a shitty microphone. It sounds better with headphones.

This week involved many hours sitting inside, me trying to figure out how much reverb is too much, and frustration with my nonexistent mixing skills, but I'd like to think it was all worth it. All these songs -- except for Day 4, which is a re-recording of a song I wrote in May -- were written from July 4-10. Thanks to anyone who listens to this :)
